Vivo V3 Imaging Chip Unveiled: Redefining Mobile Photography with 4K Portrait Mode

Vivo has unveiled the imaging chip of its upcoming Vivo V3 smartphone, and the news comes directly from Jia Jingdong, the VP, and General Manager of Brand & Product Strategy at Vivo. With much excitement, Jingdong announced that the V3 imaging chip is expected to be a game-changer in the mobile photography landscape.

The company plans to showcase this cutting-edge technology during the first week of the festival, which will also include the launch of their latest imaging capabilities, the finale of the vivo Imaging Plus mobile photography competition, and the presentation of awards for the vivo × PERTAMA ultra-short film competition.

Diving into the specifics of the V3 ISP (Image Signal Processor), the teaser shared by the executive reveals that this chip is built on a 6nm process, promising to deliver significant improvements. Most notably, the V3 chip will empower Vivo smartphones to capture stunning 4K-resolution portrait mode videos. Moreover, it will offer users advanced post-processing editing capabilities, ensuring that their creative vision can be brought to life with precision and finesse.

A little history lesson reminds us that Vivo made waves with the introduction of its first imaging chip, the Vivo V1, which accompanied the Vivo X70 series in September 2021. The V1 chip’s primary objective was to work seamlessly with the smartphone’s ISP, resulting in enhanced noise reduction, expanded dynamic range, and improved color reproduction.

Following the V1’s success, Vivo upped its game by introducing the Vivo V1+ chip with the Vivo X80 series in 2022. The V1+ was an upgraded version that offered even more enhancements, solidifying Vivo’s commitment to staying at the forefront of imaging technology.

With the latest Vivo V3 imaging chip on the horizon, the anticipation among smartphone enthusiasts is palpable. The potential to revolutionize mobile photography and videography excites many, and Vivo’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of imaging capabilities has piqued curiosity. As the launch date draws nearer, the question remains: will Vivo’s internal imaging chip make its smartphones stand out and elevate the competition in the dynamic smartphone market? The answer awaits the grand reveal.
