WhatsApp Alters the Color of its Verification Icon to Blue

Meta appears to be quite occupied in the ongoing development of its widely-used messaging application, WhatsApp. Recent enhancements include the introduction of Meta AI assistants and AI stickers, newly unveiled in the US.

As part of these updates, WhatsApp is undergoing a subtle transformation in the color scheme of its account verification icon. Previously sporting a green hue in harmony with the WhatsApp app logo, it is now transitioning to a shade of blue.

This revelation comes courtesy of WABetaInfo. In WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.23.20.18, an alteration in the color of the account verification icon has been observed. This change extends to Channels and all verified business accounts.

In the past, Meta had offered a verification icon known as “Meta Verified,” attainable through a subscription-based system. This feature came bundled with a range of functionalities and comprehensive support tailored to Meta app users.

Meta’s decision to adjust the color of the verification icon holds more significance than mere aesthetics. It represents a strategic maneuver by the company to harmonize with the branding associated with the name “Meta.” This endeavor aims to establish a unified visual identity across all platforms owned by the company.

Now, the question arises: should the icon retain its original green hue, or is the shift to blue a more fitting choice?
