WhatsApp Can Now Start Chats Without Having to Save the Number

WhatsApp has finally released a feature that allows users to start a chat without having to save the recipient’s phone number. Wow, that’s much more convenient!

As we know, previously, to start a chat on WhatsApp, we needed to save the phone number first. This is because WhatsApp could only recognize phone numbers that are in our contact list.

We could also use third-party applications or official WhatsApp click-to-chat APIs, usually in the form of links. However, all of that is no longer necessary with the feature available in the latest version of WhatsApp.

Starting a chat with a number that is not yet saved, or perhaps we are reluctant to save it, is now much easier because WhatsApp has internally embedded this feature. The feature itself has been rolled out to all users on both Android and iOS. So, how do you use it?

How to Chat on WhatsApp Without Having to Save the Number

The first thing you need to do is tap the “start new chat” icon located in the chat list. Then, enter the unknown phone number into the search bar or search column.

WhatsApp will then check if the number is in your contact list, and if not, it will search for it outside the contact list.

If the number is indeed connected to WhatsApp, the results will appear, and you can tap the “chat” button to start a conversation with that number without having to save it first in your contact list.
