WhatsApp recently rolled out the Video Message feature, allowing users to send short video messages. While this feature is currently enabled by default, WhatsApp is planning to provide users with the option to manually deactivate it through their Settings.
According to reports from WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp Beta versions for Android (2.23.18.21) and iOS (23.18.1.70) include a new toggle or slider designed to control the Video Message feature. This toggle can be accessed within the Chat section of the Settings menu.
With this toggle, users will have the flexibility to either enable or disable Video Messages. When deactivated, the video icon next to the chat box will vanish, leaving only the audio icon. It’s worth noting that even with the feature turned off, users will still be able to receive video messages sent by others.
This development is particularly advantageous for individuals who prefer sending audio messages over video messages. Interestingly, both video and audio messages share the same button, allowing users to switch between modes with just a single tap.
The rollout of this new toggle to all WhatsApp users is expected to happen gradually. When it becomes available, the choice to either disable or keep the Video Message feature active will be in the hands of individual users.
