WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature in its beta version, which will allow users to add music to their WhatsApp Status updates, similar to the feature already available on Instagram Stories.
WABetaInfo discovered this new feature in the latest WhatsApp Beta version for Android (2.25.2.5) and iOS (25.1.10.73). It’s expected that WhatsApp will roll it out to the general public soon, although the exact release date is still unclear.
Once the feature is available, users will see a new option to add music in the editing tools for updating their Status. By tapping on the “note” icon, users can search for and select the desired music.
After selecting the music, users can adjust its duration. For photo-based Status updates, only a 15-second music clip will be allowed, while video Status updates can have music that matches the length of the video.
Additionally, when other users view a Status with music, they will be able to see the track title and artist information. There’s even an option to tap “View artist,” which takes them to the artist’s Instagram profile.
The addition of music to WhatsApp Status will undoubtedly be an exciting feature for users, offering a more dynamic and emotional way to update their Status compared to regular photos or videos. Let’s hope it gets released soon!
