WhatsApp is giving its application a facelift, and the changes are evident in the latest WhatsApp Beta version. In this update, the top bar has undergone a transformation, turning from green to white. Additionally, Meta-owned messaging platform has introduced a new chat filtering feature.
In screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, the formerly green top bar has transitioned to a clean white, while other elements of the user interface retain their familiar green hue. The navigation bar has found its new home at the bottom of the screen.
Within this revamped top bar, WhatsApp has thoughtfully added a new menu for “Profile,” positioned conveniently alongside the camera and search menus. This enhancement is designed to simplify the process of accessing one’s profile, eliminating the need to navigate through settings beforehand.
Beyond these visual alterations, WhatsApp has introduced a practical chat filtering feature. Positioned just above the chat list, users now have the option to filter their chats based on “Unread” messages, “Personal” conversations, or “Business” discussions.
WABetaInfo suggests that these changes to WhatsApp’s appearance likely align with Meta’s efforts to adhere to Google’s latest Material Design 3 guidelines. Interestingly, these updates are not exclusive to WhatsApp Beta for Android but are also visible in WhatsApp Beta for iOS.
It’s apparent that WhatsApp aims to establish a consistent app appearance across both Android and iOS platforms. However, it’s important to bear in mind that this fresh look is currently in the development stage, so it may take some time before it becomes accessible to the wider user base.
