If you own an Apple iPhone 15 and happen to drive a BMW equipped with wireless charging capabilities, you might want to hold off on using that feature for now. Multiple reports have surfaced suggesting that the wireless charging function in BMW cars could potentially lead to NFC chip malfunctions in the iPhone 15.
In recent weeks, according to accounts on MacRumors, iPhone 15 users who also own BMWs have been encountering issues where the NFC functionality on their devices becomes inoperative after recharging their phones using the wireless charging pad inside their cars.
According to some users, their iPhones have entered a data recovery mode screen and displayed a white screen prior to experiencing this problem. Subsequently, the NFC feature stops functioning, rendering Apple Pay unusable as well.
Impacted users are receiving messages stating, “Could Not Set Up Apple Pay” after such incidents, and as of now, there is no official remedy from Apple to address the NFC chip malfunction resulting from the use of wireless charging pads in BMW vehicles.
It remains unclear which specific models of the iPhone 15 are most susceptible to this issue or which BMW car models might also be associated with similar problems. In the meantime, exercising caution when using a wireless charging pad for your iPhone 15 is advisable.
