Xiaomi 15 Pro Camera Sensor Unveiled: A New Era in Mobile Photography

New leaks about the Xiaomi 15 Series have revealed details about the camera sensors it will feature. Specifically, these leaks concern the Xiaomi 15 Pro model, which will stick with a triple rear camera setup including a 50MP main sensor, similar to its predecessor.

However, it seems that these sensors will see some improvements. According to reports from Gizmochina, citing leaks from Weibo, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will use the OV50K as its main camera sensor and the IMX882 for the 3x zoom telephoto camera.

The OV50K sensor from Omnivision is reported to be quite large, around 1 inch in size. This is a slight increase compared to the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which used a sensor about 1/1.31 inches in size.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many details yet about what exactly the OV50K sensor will offer. Omnivision recently released the OV50K40, which is slightly smaller (around 1/1.31 inches), and is expected to be in the same line as the sensor used in the Xiaomi 15 Pro. The OV50K40 boasts features like lateral overflow integration capacitors (LOFIC), which are claimed to provide excellent high dynamic range (HDR) in single-exposure scenarios, with HDR capabilities said to be comparable to human vision.

Additionally, the 3x zoom telephoto camera will use Sony’s IMX882 sensor. While not as advanced as the OV64B found in other flagship phones, it is considered superior to the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 used in the previous generation Xiaomi 14 Pro.

Another 50MP camera is expected to be used for the ultra-wide lens. However, details about the ultra-wide camera on the Xiaomi 15 Pro are not yet available. The smartphone is anticipated to be launched in October, featuring Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
