Apple is preparing the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2.

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new version of the AirPods Pro, called the AirPods Pro 2, with a USB-C port. The news comes after the company released iOS 16.4 candidate for developers, which included a reference to the new AirPods with the code A3048.

According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the device is likely to be a USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2 that was launched last year with a Lightning port, and their mass shipment is expected between 2Q23-3Q23.

Kuo did not reveal any details about the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2, and it is unclear whether this is simply a second version of the AirPods Pro that comes in a charging case featuring USB-C or if there will be other hardware changes.

Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone 15 lineup this year with a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port. Kuo claimed that Apple currently has no plans for USB-C versions of AirPods 2 and 3.

This means that the AirPods Pro 2 is likely to be the first TWS earphones from Apple to switch from Lightning to USB-C, as quoted by GSM Arena.
