There is a Technical Issue, Solid State Buttons on iPhone 16 Pro Delayed

After recent rumors circulated that Apple would be delaying the Solid-state buttons feature from the iPhone 15 Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro, it seems that this new feature won’t be available to consumers in the iPhone 16 Pro series either.

A little context: Like most smartphones, iPhones use mechanical buttons for power and volume. Apple intended to replace these mechanical buttons with haptic touch, meaning there would no longer be physical buttons on their iPhone Pro lineup, at least according to the circulating rumors.

Solid State Buttons on iPhone 16 Pro Delayed

According to analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities, via MacRumors, the iPhone 16 Pro lineup has a low probability of receiving the solid-state buttons feature. This is because Apple has encountered technical issues that cannot be resolved before entering mass production.

Initially, this feature was planned for the iPhone 15 Pro model and was delayed until the iPhone 16 Pro version. However, due to the aforementioned technical issues, Apple had to once again postpone the introduction of this feature in their iPhone Pro lineup and continue using mechanical buttons like most other smartphones.

Therefore, at least until 2024, users will continue to use iPhones with mechanical buttons while waiting for Apple to address the technical issues.
